February 13-17 is Random Acts of Kindness Week. As the chair of the service committee, Ashley Harding suggested that DYP participate in this event. From now, the release date of this newsletter, until February 12, the Service Team will be collecting any items or monetary gifts for the following charities: Oreo’s Animal Rescueand Prairie Rose Center.
Oreo’s is looking for food, toys, grooming supplies, litter, blankets, and anything else for both dogs and cats. Prairie Rose Center is looking for small kitchen appliances (griddle, electric roaster), kitchen utensils, kitchen storage containers (Tupperware or Rubbermaid), board games, puzzles, arts and crafts supplies, and other family entertainment options. These are two great causes in the community. With a lot of changes in the population and housing issues, animals are sometimes left behind and forgotten. Oreo’s Animal Rescue is there to take care of those animals and to educate the public about proper pet care. The Prairie Rose Center is a program dedicated to helping adults with serious mental illnesses by having social and recreational activities and teaching cooking and social skills along with many other things.
