A little about how and when you got started
I got my start in the fall of 2012, when the manufacturing company I worked for at the time purchased a MakerBot Replicator 2. Throughout winter and into spring of 2013 I got more familiar with the technology and met local 3D printing enthusiast Ben Bernard from NDSU ALA department. Ben invited me to be a part of a 3D printing demo he was hosting at the Fargo Public Library. This is where I met my now co-founder, John Schneider. Throughout 2013 both myself and John watched the 3D printing market grow and decided that we should take part as we saw a void. This void was helping schools, companies, and individuals find the right 3D printer for their application as well as manufacture spare parts. Thus started Fargo 3D Printing on January 15th, 2014. Since then we have grown to become an eight person company with clients such as Pixar, Tesla Motors, NASA, Apple, and many others. With one-third of our spare parts sales going outside of the United States, we are helping to improve 3D printing on a global stage.

What should people know about your business
People should know that 3D printing is a technology that will be around for another 30+ years and that we’re here to help them find a 3D printer that fits their application.

What one tip do you have for other YPs that are interested in starting a business
One tip that I have for other young professionals is look into local government grants & programs. We have worked with two programs provided by the North Dakota Department of Commerce. “Innovate ND” and “TBEG Grant” are the two we have used and with the help of the NDSU Incubator, they have helped our business grow faster.
